Recession Cake

1 1/3 cup boiling water

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup rolled oats

 3/4 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup butter

1 tsp. baking soda

1 cup packed brown sugar

 1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2  tsp. baking powder

2 eggs

1 tsp. cinnamon

Pour boiling water over oats; let cool. In bowl, cream butter with brown sugar and white sugar until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flours, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir into creamed mixture along with oats. Beat until smooth. Spread in 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
